If you were following international news earlier this summer, you may have heard about the heavy rains that brought about massive flooding throughout China. The floods killed over 500 people and forced over 1.4 million others to evacuate their homes, inflicting billions of dollars worth of damage. It certainly sounds terrible when you read an article about it, but to get a real picture of the scale of this flooding one most certainly has to look at images.

Too bad I can’t see the pictures since Flickr is blocked in China.
During the summer, the images were on Chinese TV every day. After a while it became just routine to watch.
Most of the Chinese people affected just shrugged off the flooding as no big deal.

Of course after a while - everyone shrugs off the norm. When you can’t do anything to really change something in your own life, you deal with it the best you can and stop wasting time and energy b*tching about your situation.
